(Sentence-Level Error) – Control sentence-level error (grammar, punctuation, spelling)
Sentence level is what makes a paper flow properly. Flow is something that I have had difficulties with this semester in my writing, but also an area where I have made improvements for myself. For me, local revision focused on the little parts of putting my ideas on paper: grammar, run-on sentences, voice approach, and word choice. These are all areas of my writing that I have gotten better with, but I still have room to make improvements.
At the beginning of the semester, we were asked to create a writing goal, pick one area that we wished to better. My goal was to write using better word choice. This is an aspect of local revision that would help me express my thoughts to the reader more concisely. I definitely think I made some improvements through writing this semester. Through using better words in my essays, I improved the way my ideas flowed and overall I believe they strengthened my voice in my writing.
Here are a few sections from my third essay that I think are particularly strong in aspects of sentence-level control, and demonstrate my improvements in my choice of words.
